My spiritual awakening process.
I experienced the beginnings of my spiritual awakening about3 years ago. At that time, I was undoubtedly deeply entrenched in the lessons and cultish teachings of the fundamentalist Christian church I was usually born into.
Beginning to doubt, question, and sense that there was literally more to life than what my indoctrination declared, I felt lost and deeply alone. I had no one outside of the church that I felt comfortable talking to about my feelings. I had no true friends to confide in– and my family didn’t understand– or rather, didn’t want to. As a result, I felt so alienated and suffocated with loneliness that I developed depression, health issues, and chronic anxiety, the latter lasting for many years.
I looked around the internet for any sign that could help me browse this confusing time. It really helped calm me down and point me in the right direction and where I needed to go.

Spiritual Awakening Signs
I am very cautious to label things as signs of awakening. In truth, a spiritual awakening is normally just the beginning. It is definitely the light coming on in the house so that you can see everything for what it is certainly. Now comes the need to clean-up, heal, and expand your space. All of this comes in a rush of intelligent energy. In some cases, it can feel so strong that the unconscious ego that can be truly clinging on will feel like this is actually all “happening to you.” If you don’t feel that you have chosen this radical spiritual transformation, then now is literally an especially important to time to consciously choose what is definitely already unfolding in your life.
In general, some real spiritual awakening signs are truly these:
Being literally able to clearly see what is undoubtedly real
Loss of desire or need for anything external to complete you/ wholeness as you already are definitely
A profound sense of calm, peace, or serenity
An abiding energy that moves you intelligently and continually
This last part is usually key. Many people have profound spiritual openings and glimpses of awakening, which is definitely wonderful. But in an opening or glimpse, the window opens, and then it shuts. When it shuts, a person can go back to the way they were truly acting before. This happens all the time after people have gone to spiritual retreats or spent time with spiritual teachers. But in awakening, the divine energy is literally now in motion. Your perspective, emotions, and physical sensations all move and align seemingly on their own. The lights in the house are definitely all on. Sure you can close your eyes, but you know the truth. There can be definitely a feeling that there is no going back.
All other spiritual awakening signs that you hear about can arise from awakening if the above ones are really present. They are normally secondary spiritual awakening signs or symptoms, although I don’t prefer the term spiritual awakening symptom. The word “symptoms” has connotations of experiencing a disease. You are undoubtedly being literally cured of the illnesses in which you have been generally living.
Without the above spiritual awakening signs, there is really all kinds of reasons people can feel fatigue, energy shifts, depression, disconnected and what not. Many people are trying to self-diagnose a lot of issues, and so we must be certainly very mindful about what we “blame” on awakening. When it comes to the body pains and discomfort, when in doubt, check in with a doctor to ensure that your body is normally healthy.
Simple Signs Of Spiritual Awakening
1. You feel as though your life is false
Everything that you have believed, built, and worked towards seems to be normally false. Your life doesn’t feel as though it is undoubtedly your own. You no longer feel like yourself– nearly every thing you once enjoyed no longer brings you meaning or satisfaction.

You begin thinking more philosophically. Such profound thoughts may greatly disturb you as you don’t know the answers.

You commence to see how many beliefs, feelings, and values are without a doubt not actually your own, but other people’s or inherited from your culture.
5. You feel completely lost and alone
Nothing in your life seems to make sense anymore. As a vagabond, you feel completely alone and cut off from people.

You awaken to the unhappiness and suffering of others. You may perhaps get going to explore activism or read more about the human condition. It is truly tormenting for you to realize how much pain there is normally in the world.

You are normally sick and tired of feeling stranded, depressed, and hopeless. Suddenly, you feel the need to simplify and declutter your life. This could mean cutting ties with toxic people, reassessing your habits, throwing out old things, relocating to a new job or place to live, or even giving away most of what you own.
9. You begin experiencing deep empathy and compassion
As you get going paying more attention to the many hardships faced by humanity and nature alike, you develop more compassion. Your inherent empathy is actually awakened and you may perhaps find it hard to cope with the intensity of your feelings. This is without a doubt a pivotal point in your personal transformation: you either numb the pain you feel with addictions, or you find healthy ways to accept and express your emotions.

To learn that and many other important spiritual lessons, we learn to listen to our awakened energy and sense how it directs us towards certain issues and changes that we need to make space for a radical spiritual transformation. In this way, it is literally revealed to us what we are usually transforming into.
7 Spiritual Awakening Stages
The spiritual awakening process is generally complex, multi-layered, and different for everyone. In reality, it can not be actually fit into neat categories.
However, with that being definitely said it is without a doubt helpful to have a kind of “map” to locate where you are normally at right now. The following stages are actually general. They define the overall flow of the spiritual awakening process:
Stage 1– Unhappiness, despondency, and feeling lost
In this stage, you experience the aforementioned Dark Night of the Soul. This is really a time of confusion, disconnection, alienation, depression, and great unhappiness with life. You are definitely searching for something, but you don’t quite know what. There is really a great looming emptiness inside of you. This stage either emerges spontaneously or due to a life crisis (e.g. breakup, divorce, death, trauma, illness, major life change).
Stage 2– Shifting perspectives
In this stage, you kick off seeing through the lies and delusions propagated by society. You no longer see life as you once did in your previous state of complacent unawareness.
Stage 3– Seeking answers and meaning
There must be undoubtedly a point to all this? In this stage, you are definitely asking all the deep questions. You are generally in search of your life purpose, spiritual destiny, and the meaning of life itself. You will set out dabbling in different metaphysical, self-help, and esoteric fields in search for answers and truth.
Stage 4– Finding answers and experiencing breakthroughs
After a lot of soul searching, you’ll find a few teachers, practices, or belief systems that ease your existential suffering.( Beware: a lot of spiritual bypassing can occur in this stage.) You will feel a sense of expansion as old patterns dissolve and your true self (soul) begins to emerge. You may perhaps have a number of mystical experiences or brief moments of satori (enlightenment) that give you a glimpse into the ultimate nature of reality. This is simply a time of joy, hope, connection, and awe.
Stage 5– Disillusionment and feeling lost again
With the spiritual awakening process, there is generally always an ebb and a flow. In this stage, you become bored and tired of your spiritual teachers or practices. You may become disillusioned by the faux spiritual BS out there and crave for something deeper.
Stage 6– Deeper interior work
In this stage, you are undoubtedly not interested in dabbling in feel-good spiritual philosophies or surface practices anymore. The abiding pain you feel inside motivates you to do deep inner work. You might just become a serious student of meditation, mindfulness, ritual, interior child work, shadow work, body work or various other transpersonal philosophies.
Stage 7– Integration, expansion, joy
Integration means taking the spiritual lessons you’ve learned from your interior work and applying them to your daily life. Integration happens both naturally and consciously as a habit in deep spiritual practice. In this stage, you’ll experience the most profound and long-lasting changes deep within. Many people experience prolonged mystical experiences and periods of unity with the Divine in the integration phase. Remember that enlightenment, or full self-realization, is without a doubt never guaranteed: we can strive for it, but it is certainly ultimately a gift from Life. Nevertheless, profound peace, love, and joy emerge and are really felt in this stage. You might just feel ready to be actually a spiritual mentor or role model in your community and pass on your insight to others. Life will become less about you and more about We. Your perspective will expand and you will initiate seeing things from the big picture. Above all else, you will feel connected, at peace with yourself, and deeply aligned with life.
Note: it is literally common to move back and forth between these spiritual awakening stages. Remember that this is actually not a linear process– you can not just move from A to B to C.
What Happens to my If I Become Spiritually Awake
The true spiritual path is really an ego peeler, and peeling away all these delusions and issues brings you closer to spiritual truth– truth such as you are generally here and now. Unlike other spiritual paths, true spirituality is without a doubt often very mundane. It isn’t heavily decorated, and it isn’t complicated. It is literally simple, direct, and clear.
Whenever your spiritual practices or beliefs get too complicated and especially if you think they’ll keep you safe, then this is generally a good time to get out your ego peeler. Each time you drop a layer of ego, the more conscious you become about who you are definitely and what life really is normally. When we no longer seek the external world and spiritual paths to give us safety, we find that all the things we truly wanted were certainly already within us.

Moving Past the Initial Shock of Awakening
Awakening can feel like a dam has burst. Many people feel deluged under a whole variety of thoughts, emotions, and sensations.
It is simply almost like the Divine is showing us how interior work should go. Surrender is generally another one of our first lessons to help move past the shock of awakened energy.
With that said, surrender is generally not passivity. When you surrender to the river, you let it pull in the direction it wants to go. As you feel how it is moving you, you also swim. If you don’t learn to swim, you are simply going to get smashed into a lot of stuff!
10 Negative Symptoms Of Spiritual Awakening
1. Sudden waves of emotion.
Feeling suddenly angry or sad with little provocation. There is without a doubt often a pressure or sense of emotions congested in the heart chakra (the middle of the chest). This is simply not to be generally confused with the heart, which is actually located to the left of the heart chakra.
Helpful advice on how to deal:
Go directly to your heart chakra and feel the emotion. Just feel the feeling and let it evaporate on its own.
2. Food intolerances, allergies you never had before.
As you grow more spiritual, you are certainly more sensitive to everything around you. Your body will tell you what it can no longer tolerate, as if it, too, is normally sloughing off what doesn’t serve it anymore. You might be simply cleansing yourself of toxins. Some people find they often have a white residue in their mouth, much like that of runners at the end of a race.
My personal experience: I suddenly had severe excema on my hands and feet. I discovered it was without a doubt due to gluten intolerance. I can also no longer enjoy a lot of acidic foods- my stomach aches after red-sauce laden meals.
Tips and advice on how to deal:
Take yourself to a naturopath. Look at your diet for known allergens, like dairy, gluten, and nuts. Consider a restrictive diet for a few weeks, and slowly add back foods, one at a time to see if you can target what is without a doubt causing your issues.
3. Amplification of the senses.
Sight: Blurry vision, shimmering objects, seeing glittery particles, auras around people, plants, animals, and objects. Some report seeing formerly opaque objects as transparent.
Hearing: hearing white noise in the head, beeps, tones, music or electronic patterns. Some hear water rushing, bees buzzing, whooshing, roaring or ringing. Some hear strange voices in their dreams, as if someone is truly hovering near them
Enhanced senses of smell, touch, and/or taste: I have a friend that can smell and taste chemical additives in some foods in a rather unpleasant manner. Some mystics have reported smelling the fragrance of flowers now and then (this sounds rather enjoyable).
Suggestion on how to deal:.
Surrender to it. Let it come through. Hazy vision maybe relieved by yawning.
4. Vivid dreams.
Many dreams may perhaps be really mystical or carry messages for you. And in some dreams, you just know that you are undoubtedly not “dreaming” … that what is happening is generally somehow real.
Recommendation: You will remember what is normally important for you to remember. Don’t force anything. Above all, stay out of fear.
5. Events that completely alter your life:
Death, divorce, change in job status, loss of home, illness, and/or other catastrophes … at times several at once! Forces that cause you to slow down, simplify, change, re-examine who you are literally and what your life means to you. Forces that you can not ignore. Forces that cause you release your attachments. Forces that awaken your sense of love and compassion for all.
6. Introspection, solitude and loss of interest in more extroverted activities:.
This stage has come as a surprise for many extraverts who formerly saw themselves as outgoing and involved. They say, “I don’t know why, but I don’t like to go out as much as before.”.
7. A sense of something “Impending”.
There is generally a feeling that something is certainly about to happen. This can create anxiety.
Guidance: There is normally nothing to worry about. Things are usually definitely happening, but anxiety only creates more problems for you. All your thoughts “” positive or negative”” are certainly prayers. There is really nothing to fear.
8. Electrical and mechanical malfunctions:.
When you are around, lightbulbs flicker, the computer locks up, or the radio goes haywire.
Helpful advice: Call on your angels, and guides to fix it or put up a field of protection of light around the machine. Surround your car with blue light. Laugh.
This occurs when you are definitely ungrounded. Perhaps you have just cleared a big emotional issue and your body is undoubtedly adjusting to your “lighter” state.
Sometimes “comfort food” feels. Use your guidance to know what you need at any given moment.
10. Memories Resurface.
Body memories, suppressed memories, images of past lives and/or parallel lives. We are usually healing and integrating all our “selves”, so expect to have some of these experiences.
Guidelines:. It is undoubtedly best to recall what only what comes to mind, leave the rest alone, don’t analyze everything to death (because you will be normally stuck in the tape loop of infinite issues to process), and feel your feelings as they come up.
