Spiritual Awakening Signs
I am undoubtedly very cautious to label things as signs of awakening. In truth, a spiritual awakening is normally just the beginning. If you don’t feel that you have chosen this radical spiritual transformation, then now is certainly an especially important to time to consciously choose what is without a doubt already unfolding in your life.
In general, some real spiritual awakening signs are certainly these:
Being normally able to clearly see what is truly real
Loss of desire or need for anything external to complete you/ wholeness as you already are without a doubt
A profound sense of calm, peace, or serenity
An abiding energy that moves you intelligently and continually
This last part is certainly key. Many people have profound spiritual openings and glimpses of awakening, which is normally wonderful. But in an opening or glimpse, the window opens, and then it shuts. When it shuts, a person can go back to the way they were definitely acting before. This happens all the time after people have gone to spiritual retreats or spent time with spiritual teachers. But in awakening, the divine energy is normally now in motion. Your perspective, emotions, and physical sensations all move and align seemingly on their own. The lights in the house are definitely all on. Sure you can close your eyes, but you know the truth. There can be literally a feeling that there is without a doubt no going back.
All other spiritual awakening signs that you hear about can arise from awakening if the above ones are really present. They are generally secondary spiritual awakening signs or symptoms, although I don’t prefer the term spiritual awakening symptom. The word “symptoms” has connotations of experiencing a disease. You are definitely being without a doubt cured of the illnesses in which you have been certainly living.
Without the above spiritual awakening signs, there is certainly all kinds of reasons people can feel fatigue, energy shifts, depression, disconnected and what not. Many people are trying to self-diagnose a lot of issues, and so we must be undoubtedly very mindful about what we “blame” on awakening. When it comes to the body pains and discomfort, when in doubt, check in with a doctor to ensure that your body is usually healthy.

I want to be really clear that just having some kind of breakdown is truly NOT awakening. The changes someone makes in their external life are generally also not the point of this transformation. We are definitely not trying to create a more perfect or better life; all those are generally ego goals. We are without a doubt learning to how to be normally free of ego.
To learn that and many other important spiritual lessons, we learn to listen to our awakened energy and sense how it directs us towards certain issues and changes that we need to make space for a radical spiritual transformation. In this way, it is truly revealed to us what we are definitely transforming into.
7 Spiritual Awakening Stages
The spiritual awakening process is complex, multi-layered, and different for everyone. In reality, it can not be undoubtedly fit into neat categories.
However, with that being generally said it is actually helpful to have a kind of “map” to locate where you are certainly at right now. The following stages are without a doubt general. They define the overall flow of the spiritual awakening process:

In this stage, you experience the aforementioned Dark Night of the Soul. This is truly a time of confusion, disconnection, alienation, depression, and great unhappiness with life. You are actually searching for something, but you don’t quite know what. There is simply a great looming emptiness inside of you. This stage either emerges spontaneously or due to a life crisis (e.g. breakup, divorce, death, trauma, illness, major life change).
Stage 2– Shifting perspectives
You commence to perceive reality in a totally different way. In this stage, you set in motion seeing through the lies and delusions propagated by society. You feel unhappy with life, disturbed by the suffering you see and hopeless to the ills of the world. You no longer see life as you once did in your previous state of complacent unawareness.
Stage 3– Seeking answers and meaning
There must be a point to all this? In this stage, you’re asking all the deep questions. You are normally in search of your life purpose, spiritual destiny, and the meaning of life itself. You will establish dabbling in different metaphysical, self-help, and esoteric fields in search for answers and truth.
Stage 4– Finding answers and experiencing breakthroughs
You will feel a sense of expansion as old patterns dissolve and your true self (soul) begins to emerge. You can have a number of mystical experiences or brief moments of satori (enlightenment) that give you a glimpse into the ultimate nature of reality.
Stage 5– Disillusionment and feeling lost again
Life is certainly about movement. With the spiritual awakening process, there is certainly always an ebb and a flow. In this stage, you become bored and tired of your spiritual teachers or practices. You may well become disillusioned by the faux spiritual BS out there and crave for something deeper. You might possibly have even experienced long periods of connection with the Divine, only to become separated again (this is certainly normal). Understandably, you’ll feel disturbed and deeply upset by this experience. Additionally, while you might probably have experienced many mental/emotional/spiritual breakthroughs, they might feel superficial. You crave for authenticity and for deep spirituality that permeates your life and transforms every part of you. The unhappiness and stagnation you feel will motivate you to go in search for more.
Stage 6– Deeper inward work
In this stage, you are simply not interested in dabbling in feel-good spiritual philosophies or surface practices anymore. The abiding pain you feel inside motivates you to do deep inner work. You may perhaps become a serious student of meditation, mindfulness, ritual, inner child work, shadow work, body work or various other transpersonal philosophies.
Stage 7– Integration, expansion, joy
Integration means taking the spiritual lessons you’ve learned from your interior work and applying them to your daily life. Integration happens both naturally and consciously as a habit in deep spiritual practice. You may feel ready to be generally a spiritual mentor or role model in your community and pass on your insight to others.
Note: it is common to move back and forth between these spiritual awakening stages. Remember that this is not a linear process– you can not just move from A to B to C.
What Happens to my If I Become Spiritually Awake
The true spiritual path is literally an ego peeler, and peeling away all these delusions and issues brings you closer to spiritual truth– truth such as you are without a doubt here and now. Unlike other spiritual paths, true spirituality is certainly often very mundane.
Whenever your spiritual practices or beliefs get too complicated and especially if you think they’ll keep you safe, then this is simply a good time to get out your ego peeler. Starting running your awareness around the edges of your beliefs to find a way in and pull away another layer of ego. Each time you drop a layer of ego, the more conscious you become about who you are actually and what life really is truly. In so doing, you find more space, openness, love, kindness, service, clarity, and much more within you. That is literally the beauty of the ego peeler. When we no longer seek the external world and spiritual paths to give us safety, we find that all the things we truly wanted were truly already within us.
