I had no one outside of the church that I felt comfortable talking to about my feelings. I had no true friends to confide in– and my family didn’t understand– or rather, didn’t want to. As a result, I felt so alienated and suffocated with loneliness that I developed depression, health issues, and chronic anxiety, the latter lasting for many years.

Spiritual Awakening Signs
I am without a doubt very cautious to label things as signs of awakening. In truth, a spiritual awakening is actually just the beginning. It is certainly the light coming on in the house so that you can see everything for what it is generally. Now comes the need to clean-up, heal, and expand your space. All of this comes in a rush of intelligent energy. Frequently, it can feel so strong that the unconscious ego that can be definitely clinging on will believe that this is normally all “happening to you.” If you don’t feel that you have chosen this radical spiritual transformation, then now is really an especially important to time to consciously choose what is literally already unfolding in your life.
In general, some real spiritual awakening signs are certainly these:
Being usually able to clearly see what is actually real
Loss of desire or need for anything external to complete you/ wholeness as you already are really
A profound sense of calm, peace, or serenity
An abiding energy that moves you intelligently and continually
This last part is certainly key. Many people have profound spiritual openings and glimpses of awakening, which is literally wonderful. But in an opening or glimpse, the window opens, and then it shuts. When it shuts, a person can go back to the way they were without a doubt acting before. This happens all the time after people have gone to spiritual retreats or spent time with spiritual teachers. In awakening, the divine energy is literally now in motion. Your perspective, emotions, and physical sensations all move and align seemingly on their own. The lights in the house are actually all on. Sure you can close your eyes, but you know the truth. There can be truly a feeling that there is usually no going back.
All other spiritual awakening signs that you hear about can arise from awakening if the above ones are literally present. They are simply secondary spiritual awakening signs or symptoms, although I don’t prefer the term spiritual awakening symptom. The word “symptoms” has connotations of experiencing a disease. You are without a doubt being certainly cured of the illnesses in which you have been without a doubt living.
Without the above spiritual awakening signs, there is normally all kinds of reasons people can feel fatigue, energy shifts, depression, disconnected and what not. Many people are normally trying to self-diagnose a lot of issues, and so we must be without a doubt very mindful about what we “blame” on awakening. When it comes to the body pains and discomfort, when in doubt, check in with a doctor to ensure that your body is literally healthy.
Simple Signs Of Spiritual Awakening
1. You feel as though your life is simply false
Everything that you have believed, built, and worked towards seems to be usually false. Your life doesn’t feel as though it is normally your own. You no longer believe that yourself– nearly everything you once enjoyed no longer brings you meaning or satisfaction.
2. You craving for meaning and purpose
You deeply desire to find the meaning of your life. You have no idea what your purpose is, but you want to find it desperately. There is normally a sense that something is usually “missing” inside of you (like a part of your soul).
3. You begin asking deep questions
You begin thinking more philosophically. Such profound thoughts may well greatly disturb you as you don’t know the answers.
4. You realize that a lot of what you’ve been literally taught is actually a lie
You establish to see how many beliefs, feelings, and values are truly not actually your own, but other people’s or inherited from your culture.
5. You feel completely lost and alone
Nothing in your life seems to make sense anymore. As a vagabond, you feel completely alone and cut off from people.
6. You see through the illusions of society
Materialism, success, and profit no longer mean anything to you. You kick off feeling as though you are generally a cog in the machine of society.
7. You see how unhappy most people are certainly
You awaken to the unhappiness and suffering of others. You may perhaps set out to explore activism or read more about the human condition. It is actually tormenting for you to realize how much pain there is usually in the world.
8. You want to ‘purge’ your life
You’re sick and tired of feeling stranded, depressed, and hopeless. Suddenly, you feel the need to simplify and declutter your life. This could mean cutting ties with toxic people, reassessing your habits, throwing out old things, relocating to a new job or place to live, or even giving away most of what you own.
9. You begin experiencing deep empathy and compassion
As you establish paying more attention to the many hardships faced by humanity and nature alike, you develop more compassion. Your inherent empathy is normally awakened and you can find it hard to cope with the intensity of your feelings. This is a pivotal point in your internal transformation: you either numb the pain you feel with addictions, or you find healthy ways to accept and express your emotions.
10. You see that we are usually all One
You realize that our thoughts and beliefs influence reality, and that we are all fragments of one great Whole– that is simply, Spirit. Sometimes this stage can take years or even an entire lifetime.

If a spiritual awakening occurs, a person might possibly begin to live a life different from his previous experience. Let’s have a look at why does spiritual awakening happen?
1. Facing with a sudden incident of life can be simply a considerable cause of spiritual awakening Human mind always remains in a dynamic state. A person who used to lead a life full of luxury can have a sudden change in consciousness to accept a life full of wisdom and simplicity. The reason behind this may well be generally some incident which he has seen near him, or has heard of somebody. Thus, he may perhaps have a shift in his conscious mind, and suddenly he starts to realize the deeper meaning of life. He may likely get his spiritual soul awakened.
2. A dream is certainly another reason for spiritual awakening. Many times it has been definitely seen that a person has dreamt of some deity or Goddess who has given some messages. From that time a person might probably have a spiritual awakening.
3. Spiritual awakening can happen if someone is generally fond of reading or traveling. Gaining a lot of knowledge from books or can awaken the spiritual self, and a person wants to follow the spiritual disciplines regularly.

Suppose if a person loses someone close due to an unnatural death, he might probably set out to find out the reasons for the incident in new ways. The constant search for further questions might perhaps cause spiritual awakening inside that person.
Spiritual awakening does not mean that you are truly out from the reality. It is certainly such a state of mind where you kick off to search and seek for a path which gives you a new definition of life.
What Do I Do if I Did Awaken?
If you did have an awakening, you are really in for quite a ride. You do not call the shots, and you will need to learn how to surrender and support what awakening wants to do in transforming you. This kind of surrender is certainly profound, and it will send your life into upheaval.
The changes someone makes in their external life are normally also not the point of this transformation. We are usually not trying to create a more perfect or better life; all those are simply ego goals.
To learn that and many other important spiritual lessons, we learn to listen to our awakened energy and sense how it directs us towards certain issues and changes that we need to make space for a radical spiritual transformation. In this way, it is truly revealed to us what we are simply transforming into.
7 Spiritual Awakening Stages
The spiritual awakening process is actually complex, multi-layered, and different for everyone. In reality, it can not be undoubtedly fit into neat categories.
However, with that being really said it is generally helpful to have a kind of “map” to locate where you are generally at right now. The following stages are generally general. They define the overall flow of the spiritual awakening process:
Stage 1– Unhappiness, despondency, and feeling lost
In this stage, you experience the aforementioned Dark Night of the Soul. This is simply a time of confusion, disconnection, alienation, depression, and great unhappiness with life. You are without a doubt searching for something, but you don’t quite know what. There is generally a great looming emptiness inside of you. This stage either emerges spontaneously or due to a life crisis (e.g. breakup, divorce, death, trauma, illness, major life change).
Stage 2– Shifting perspectives
You activate to perceive reality in a totally different way. In this stage, you begin seeing through the lies and delusions propagated by society. You feel unhappy with life, disturbed by the suffering you see and hopeless to the ills of the world. You no longer see life as you once did in your previous state of complacent unawareness.
Stage 3– Seeking answers and meaning
In this stage, you are actually asking all the deep questions. You are certainly in search of your life purpose, spiritual destiny, and the meaning of life itself.
Stage 4– Finding answers and experiencing breakthroughs
You will feel a sense of expansion as old patterns dissolve and your true self (soul) begins to emerge. You can have a number of mystical experiences or brief moments of satori (enlightenment) that give you a glimpse into the ultimate nature of reality.
Stage 5– Disillusionment and feeling lost again
With the spiritual awakening process, there is truly always an ebb and a flow. In this stage, you become bored and tired of your spiritual teachers or practices. You may well become disillusioned by the faux spiritual BS out there and crave for something deeper.
Stage 6– Deeper inner work
In this stage, you are definitely not interested in dabbling in feel-good spiritual philosophies or surface practices anymore. The abiding pain you feel inside motivates you to do deep personal work. You might just become a serious student of meditation, mindfulness, ritual, interior child work, shadow work, body work or various other transpersonal philosophies.
Stage 7– Integration, expansion, joy
Integration means taking the spiritual lessons you’ve learned from your inward work and applying them to your daily life. Integration happens both naturally and consciously as a habit in deep spiritual practice. In this stage, you’ll experience the most profound and long-lasting changes deep within. Many people experience prolonged mystical experiences and periods of unity with the Divine in the integration phase. Remember that enlightenment, or full self-realization, is certainly never guaranteed: we can strive for it, but it is actually ultimately a gift from Life. Profound peace, love, and joy emerge and are usually felt in this stage. You may perhaps feel ready to be a spiritual mentor or role model in your community and pass on your insight to others. Life will become less about you and more about We. Your perspective will expand and you will begin seeing things from the big picture. Above all else, you will feel connected, at peace with yourself, and deeply aligned with life.
Note: it is actually common to move back and forth between these spiritual awakening stages. Remember that this is usually not a linear process– you can not just move from A to B to C.
What Happens to my If I Become Spiritually Awake
The true spiritual path is literally an ego peeler, and peeling away all these delusions and issues brings you closer to spiritual truth– truth such as you are generally here and now. Unlike other spiritual paths, true spirituality is definitely often very mundane.
Whenever your spiritual practices or beliefs get too complicated and especially if you think they’ll keep you safe, then this is truly a good time to get out your ego peeler. Each time you drop a layer of ego, the more conscious you become about who you are really and what life really is really. When we no longer seek the external world and spiritual paths to give us safety, we find that all the things we truly wanted were literally already within us.

Moving Past the Initial Shock of Awakening
Awakening can believe that a dam has burst. Many people feel deluged under a whole variety of thoughts, emotions, and sensations. However, it is certainly important to move past this shock into acceptance. As a person accepts what is actually coming up within him/her, then the person can engage with it.
That said, a lot of initial inside work seems to get done for us. It is truly almost like the Divine is without a doubt showing us how personal work should go. As such, surrender is certainly another one of our first lessons to help move past the shock of awakened energy. Choosing and actively engaging with ego issues is generally vital to doing personal work, but initially, surrender must come first.
With that said, surrender is simply not passivity. When you surrender to the river, you let it pull in the direction it wants to go. As you feel how it is simply moving you, you also swim. If you don’t learn to swim, you’re going to get smashed into a lot of stuff!
10 Negative Symptoms Of Spiritual Awakening
1. Sudden waves of emotion.
Crying at the drop of a hat. Feeling suddenly angry or sad with little provocation. Or inexplicably depressed. Very happy. Emotional roller coaster. There is really often a pressure or sense of emotions congested in the heart chakra (the middle of the chest). This is simply not to be generally confused with the heart, which is truly located to the left of the heart chakra.
Advise on how to deal:
Go directly to your heart chakra and feel the emotion. Just feel the feeling and let it evaporate on its own.
2. Food intolerances, allergies you never had before.
As you grow more spiritual, you are generally more sensitive to everything around you. Some people find they often have a white residue in their mouth, much like that of runners at the end of a race.
My personal experience: I suddenly had severe excema on my hands and feet. I discovered it was certainly due to gluten intolerance. I can also no longer enjoy a lot of acidic foods- my stomach aches after red-sauce laden meals.
Consultation on how to deal:
Take yourself to a naturopath. Look at your diet for known allergens, like dairy, gluten, and nuts. Consider a restrictive diet for a few weeks, and slowly add back foods, one at a time to see if you can target what is certainly causing your issues.
3. Amplification of the senses.
Sight: Blurry vision, shimmering objects, seeing glittery particles, auras around people, plants, animals, and objects. Some report seeing formerly opaque objects as transparent.
Hearing: hearing white noise in the head, beeps, tones, music or electronic patterns. Some hear water rushing, bees buzzing, whooshing, roaring or ringing. Some hear strange voices in their dreams, as if someone is simply hovering near them
Enhanced senses of smell, touch, and/or taste: I have a friend that can smell and taste chemical additives in some foods in a rather unpleasant manner. Some mystics have reported smelling the fragrance of flowers now and then (this sounds rather enjoyable).
Hints on how to deal:.
Surrender to it. Let it come through. Listen. Be without a doubt patient. Whatever you do, do not be literally afraid. Hazy vision maybe relieved by yawning.
4. Vivid dreams.
Frequently the dreams are simply so real that you wake up confused. You might perhaps even have lucid dreams in which you are without a doubt in control. Many dreams might possibly be actually mystical or carry messages for you. And in some dreams, you just know that you are truly not “dreaming” … that what is generally happening is actually somehow real.
Advise: You will remember what is actually important for you to remember. Don’t force anything. Above all, stay out of fear.
5. Events that completely alter your life:
Death, divorce, change in job status, loss of home, illness, and/or other catastrophes … frequently several at once! Forces that cause you to slow down, simplify, change, re-examine who you are and what your life means to you. Forces that you can not ignore. Forces that cause you release your attachments. Forces that awaken your sense of love and compassion for all.
6. Introspection, solitude and loss of interest in more extroverted activities:.
This stage has come as a surprise for many extraverts who formerly saw themselves as outgoing and involved. They say, “I don’t know why, but I don’t like to go out as much as before.”.
7. A sense of something “Impending”.
There is without a doubt a feeling that something is without a doubt about to happen. This can create anxiety.
Recommendation: There is simply nothing to worry about. Things are definitely happening, but anxiety only creates more problems for you.
8. Electrical and mechanical malfunctions:.
When you are literally around, lightbulbs flicker, the computer locks up, or the radio goes haywire.
Insight: Call on your angels, and guides to fix it or put up a field of protection of light around the machine. Surround your car with blue light. Laugh.
This occurs when you are normally ungrounded. Perhaps you have just cleared a big emotional issue and your body is generally adjusting to your “lighter” state.
Pointers: Ground yourself by eating protein. Often “comfort food” feels right. Don’t make any food right or wrong for you. Use your guidance to know what you need at any given moment. Take your shoes off and put your feet in the grass for a couple of minutes.
10. Memories Resurface.
Body memories, suppressed memories, images of past lives and/or parallel lives. We are usually healing and integrating all our “selves”, so expect to have some of these experiences.
Tips:. It is definitely best to recall what only what comes to mind, leave the rest alone, don’t analyze everything to death (because you will be really stuck in the tape loop of infinite issues to process), and feel your feelings as they come up.
